In memory of Famila, a Hijra sex worker activist who died in 2004.
Sharada BN will speak about expanding the understanding of 'gender' in
feminism and the women's movement.
Sharada
BN is a counselor working with Parivarthan. Her talk will be located in
the context of the work of an activist like
Famila who first identified herself as a feminist when the transgender
activism was getting organised. Famila was also the first person who
offered her house as a shelter space for working class lesbians and
female to male transgenders (FTMs) who has migrated to Bangalore.
